HVAC Lifetime Warranty

HVAC Lifetime Warranty

Many companies are now offering lifetime warranty’s on replacement HVAC equipment. This warranty may be enticing, but buyer beware. The companies that created this campaign come in with low pricing, offer lengthy guarantees, and rely strictly on volume of sales to ensure that their fiscal needs are met. The reality of it is, this is not sustainable in the long run.

Realities to keep in mind:

The lifetime warranty is non-transferable. The average real warranty of HVAC Equipment is about 10 years. According to research conducted by The Mortgage Group, 53% of American say they only plan on living in their current home for the next 5 years or less.

The lifetime warranty is a lifetime compressor warranty, but the compressor is one of the last parts to fail on your air conditioner. By the time the compressor fails you may have already spent thousands of dollars in the more common air conditioning failures, such as:

  • Low refrigerant
  • Frozen evaporator coils
  • Dirty condenser coils
  • Fan problems
  • Leaking ducts
  • Thermostat problems
  • Clogged drains

The lifetime warranty has many limitations.

  • Bad installation, poor maintenance or anything other than defective parts and assembly
  • Faulty gas valve changes
  • Non-covered parts
  • Unqualified installers
  • Moving the system
  • Add-ons
  • Unmatched equipment
  • Failure caused by unauthorized parts
  • Bought online or from an unauthorized seller
  • Shipping costs

The brands that offer a lifetime warranty may be a good fit for some homeowners, but do not make the “lifetime” warranty the deciding factor. For more information and help finding a qualified technician, call us at (760) 895-2621 or fill out our contact form.
